DIY MINIMAL ADVENT CALENDAR

I wanted to make my boyfriend an extra special advent calendar this year, so that he can have all of the festive feels every day in december! However he's a all black wearing, heavy metal kind of guy so I wanted to make him something he would love and wouldn't be too glittery and festive, not that he would mind, but as you can imagine he gets subjected to a lot of glitter just by being around me!

I found this decopatch set of drawers, which are the perfect size for little chocolates and treats; as well as being super easy to decorate and personalise.

I decoupaged the outside of the drawers and around 8 of the drawer fronts with this really cool decomache paper from Trimcraft's First Edition range. It's black and white with a simple geometric design that I thought would work perfectly with my monochrome theme.

For the rest of the drawers I masked off sections with masking tape and painted them black or white to bring out the geometric pattern.

I used a selection of Simply Creative thicker stickers to add numbers to the outside of the drawers, I particularly love the cork ones! Bear in mind when purchasing stickers you'll need quite a lot of the number 2, so you might need to purchase a few extra packs. Make sure to mix up the drawers when you put them back in so that the numbers are harder to find!

I added a wooden tree to the 25th drawer as I'm going to put an extra special gift in there!

To fill the drawers, I'm going to use a selection of chocolates, some coffee sachets, little plastic toys and some hand written notes. I'm also adding in little vouchers of festive things to do together like a christmas light tour, making hot chocolates and a christmas film marathon!

The best thing about making your own advent calendar is that you can personalise it and make december even more special!

Are you making an advent for someone special too?
