Hi there, Laura here sneaking in an extra project with the April box (it was a good box!)
My third project with the kit is a scrapbook layout. I started out as a general crafter making cards, painting and making pretty things but I would now class myself as a scrapper first and foremost.
The patterned papers Emma designed were very fussycutable (shh... we’ll just pretend it’s a real word!) Fussy cutting, in short, is just cutting things out by hand. You can get special scissors with narrow tips for getting in all the nooks and crannies but bizarrely I prefer to use my biggest scissors. The handles are the most comfortable and there is plenty of blade length to work with. As a general rule you keep the scissors still and move the paper. It’s much easier that way than moving the scissors and keeping the paper still.
I added some colour to my background with some shimmery paints and ‘the packaging technique’. You can’t go wrong with the packaging technique. You put a little paint on some plastic packaging (or acetate would do) add a little water and ‘smoosh’ it on to your page. (Yep, I’m full of technical words today!) It adds great texture as you get a varied finish rather than straight uniform colour.

Until next time,
