DIY Glitter Phone Case

July 15, 2018

Hey, glitter lovers! This is Michelle, back with another project using the Unicorn Fairground box from The Glittery Hands box! If you saw my last post (unicorn piñata embellishment box), you’ll know that it was pretty involved! For this project, I was looking for something quick and much simpler. That’s when I decided to use the glitter in this month’s box to create a glitter phone case! I had this idea when I first saw the glitter mix in this box, which is just so colorful and cheery!

For this DIY, all you need is the glitter from this month’s box, mod podge, a paintbrush, and a clear phone case that fits your phone! I found a 2-pack of clear cases on amazon for less than $10.Again, this project is pretty quick and easy.

First step is to take the paintbrush and add a layer of mod podge to the inside of the phone case. I found that the mod podge was a bit streaky, so I added a few thin layers to get a good even coat. Then I carefully sprinkled the glitter right onto the glue. Make sure to be careful with this step. The glitter doesn’t spread well once it’s down, so add the glitter sparingly. Once I had enough glitter covering the glue, I let it dry for about 10 minutes. When I went back to check it, I noticed that the glitter wasn’t even and you could see through the case. So I added a second layer of glue and glitter, and let it dry.

At this point, I took an extra step that you may not need to do, but I’ll explain in case your glitter is splotchy and you can see through it. I took a pink acrylic paint and mixed it with a shimmery medium to make it iridescent. I figured that if the glitter wasn’t even and you could see through it, then you would just see the pink paint. Again, it turns out this was an unnecessary step, but I would recommend it if the glitter is uneven.

After this, I left the phone case outside to dry while I went to run a couple of errands. I came back a couple hours later and the case was fully dry and ready to use. It turned out so cute! I hope you like this and give it a try! Happy Crafting!-Michelle
