Laura's January Layout

Hi Crafty Friends! Laura here today with a scrapbook layout made with the January box.

I loved this pretty floral paper and thought I would make it the main feature of the layout. I smudged some embossing ink around the centre of my 12x12 cardstock and added the gold embossing powder. I wanted enough to show from behind the 6x6 paper, but not so much to be overwhelming.

I also wanted a rough edge... no straight lines or angles. I achieved this by using a dry paintbrush and dusting off the unmelted powder where it looked too formal. Then the magic of heat setting the powder... I’ve been doing this for more than 20 years and I still love the magical moment when it starts to melt and go shiny!

I centred the 6x6 paper on my embossed spot and added a length of ribbon to act as a clothesline to attach my photo and ephemera to.

I added a strip of vellum behind the ribbon so there was more of a separation between the photo and the patterned paper. The subtle layer of vellum just makes sure the photo doesn’t get lost amongst the pattern.

I die cut a few bunnies from more of the patterned papers – actually I cut loads because they are SO cute! – and pegged them up by their ears alongside my photo. I then raided the sticker book for my title and some shiny hearts. I know it is meant for planners but seriously, most of these stickers transfer over to scrapbooking and memory keeping too.

Thanks for looking!
