DIY Alternative Nutcrakers

Updated: Jan 10, 2020

I don't know about you but I find nutcrackers a little scray looking. I love the idea and the whimsicalness of them but something about their faces I just can't get on with- But i want my Clara moment.

I want to be the prima ballerina in The Nutcracker, and that's not gonna happen with out a nutcracker sidekick is it!

So I've made some alternative nutcrackers, they are cute and sassy and ready to take on Christmas. Actually cracking nuts might not be in thier remit, but they look cute so that's all that matters! right?

You will need:

-Blank Nutcrackers (I found these guys in Poundland) or old nutcrackers in need of a paint job

-Pink and red spray paint

-Silver Posca marker

Step one:

Get spraying, give a light coat of spray paint to each nutcracker, then once dry go in for a second coat. be sure to get in all of their nooks and crannies!

Step two:

Once dry, set to work with your silver marker and draw a mix of lines and dots to create an on trend pattern on your nutcrackers. I went all over to get a full effect, but it's really up to you what you go for here.

I'm going to set these guys up on my fireplace, it's gonna look so festive!
