COLOUR IS EVERYTHING
The kings and queens of colour over at Pantone hailed 'Very Peri' (nothing to do with cheeky Nando's, sorry) as our 2022 Colour of the Year. It's a beautiful purple-ish blue and apparently the colour represents personal inventiveness and creativity.- and I'm all for that! (and it matches my hair colour!)
Other colours you might see popular this year include earthy greens, moody blues and sunny yellows.
JEWELS AND GEMS
Bling it up like no ones watching - jewels and gems are back!
You might have seen a lot of people spending their pandemic completing that really addictive Diamond art, well now it's time to add some sparkle to everything in sight. Pinterest have even seen a rise in people searching for Tooth Gems! Festival season this year is gonna be super sparkletastic so make sure you're stocking up on gems and jewels!
PEARLS ARE OUR JAM
While I'm on the subject of jewels and embellishments, Pearls are also gonna be huge this year in jewellery making - so why not bring them into our card making and mixed media? Lots of people will be seen bringing iridescent decor into their home and wearing pearls too. Making wedding decor and stationery? You might have clients asking for pearl embellishments soon...
CHECKMATE
Animal print is SO last year - it's time for Checkerboard print! All over Instagram right now we're seeing more and more checkerboard print in home decor and fashion. This probably isn't to do with The Queen's Gambit on Netflix (although it was GREAT!) but it's super easy to create with vinyl on your next projects! Don't stick to black and white though, we're seeing all kinds of colours on the latest checkerboard prints.
WEAR THE RAINBOW!
As you can probably tell, I have been a HUGE fan of rainbow colours for years! This has become more and more popular during the pandemic with the rainbow being used as a symbol of hope and support for our health workers. Well, rainbow is here to stay in 2022 as we see lots of rainbow stripes in fashion and bold colours. There's some amazing iron on vinyl out there to help with your rainbow makes!
TIME TO SHINE
Oversized watches. huge clocks on the wall in home decor and bright coloured time pieces seem to be the hot topic of 2022. A huge vinyl wall clock would look super cool in removable vinyl right?! Or why not bling up your tired looking watch strap with iron on vinyl?
BRINGING THE OUTDOORS IN
If you're not a self confessed plant lady yet, where have you been? Again this year we're going to see a huge rise in indoor florals, plant pots and cute succulents. Not too good with keeping plants alive? Why not make some paper flowers in pots, or a huge paper flower wall to brighten up a drab room? Pinterest have seen an increased in people searching for 'Staircase garden' ... how COOL!
IF THERE'S CAKE, IT'S A PARTY...
Alternative parties are the next big thing. If the pandemic taught us anything, it's that everyday should be celebrated! Grab your friends together and party like no one's watching whether you're getting divorced, adopting a pet or maybe it's your pet's birthday! People are hunting Etsy high and low for party accessories and ideas for these 'altbashes' so grab their attention with all your makes!
IT'S ALL GREEK TO ME
If you're looking for jewellery or home decor inspiration, you'll be seeing a lot of Greek inspired designs this year. Colour palettes such as deep blues, golds and whites will be giving that luxury Aphrodite vibe. In fashion accessories, you might spot bold statement rings and necklaces.
A TREND THATS OUT OF THIS WORLD
My FAVOURITE trend for 2022 has to be SPACE! Major celestial vibes this year, celebrating the sun, moon and stars. We've found a surge for people searching for sunshine themed baby decor and moon party decor. Grab that mirror card, metallic markers, or your Cricut foiling tool and make something out of the world!
FRIENDS ARE FOREVER
Friends are the family you choose and this is the year to show them how much you love them! Pinterest have seen a rise in searches for friendship rings and friendship tattoos! What will you be making for you and your Bestie? Why not go BIG for Galentine's this year?
PLAN YOUR FINANCES
With Bullet Journaling still very much on trend - a lot of people have been searching for ways to plan their money a little better and stay on budget. Money planning has been a hot topic already this year with lots of people looking for way to plan their month financially.
